Christ as Bridegroom
Understanding the Second Coming Through Types and Shadows
Symbols, Types and Shadows
Several years ago, as a result of curiosity, I began to study the prophesied events of the last days. What initially began as a hobby, soon turned into a passion, and finally into a book.  The book, which I choose to entitle Before the Second Coming, was published in 2016 and describes, in as much detail as possible, all of the known events leading up to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

The book below—Christ as Bridegroomwas also written on the topic of the Second Coming. However, unlike my first book, Christ as Bridegroom, was not written with the purpose of describing the events of the last days. Rather, it was written with the sole purpose of examining the Second Coming through types and shadows. These types and shadows, which are often hidden throughout the scriptures, do not necessarily reference Christ's Second Coming directly; however, they nevertheless have much to say concerning the is great future event, if we are but able to read between the lines.

It is my hope that the reader will enjoy learning about these Second Coming "types" as much as I did when I first came across them myself.

A "type" is an event, an object, or person that resembles another event, object, or person of greater significance. Most of the "types" that are contained in the scriptures are what we call "types of Christ," meaning that they closely resemble Christ in one form or another. For example, John the Baptist taught that the Passover lamb was a type of Christ when he declared Jesus to be "the Lamb of God" (John 1:29).

The vast majority of the "types of Christ" found in the scriptures are types of Christ's first coming, meaning that they foreshadow Christ's birth, ministry, atonement, death, or resurrection in some form or another. But as interesting as Christ's first coming types my be, the purpose of this book is to examine the types associated with Christ's Second Coming. While there may not be as many Second Coming types located in the scriptures, the types that we have been able to identify are, in each case, filled with rich symbolism and can teach us much about our Savior's return.
